The Series 7 chair, introduced in 1955 as the successor to the Ant™ chair, features a seat constructed from nine layers of thin, pressure-moulded veneer. The outer layers are finished with beautiful wood grain, and the inner layers are arranged with alternating grain directions to achieve optimal strength. This design results in a chair that is both lightweight and exceptionally strong, a hallmark of the Series 7. Its slender silhouette, supported by delicate 14mm steel pipes, has earned it the nickname "Butterfly Chair." This particular model has a lacquer finish, concealing the wood grain.
