LOUISIANA POSTERS Skovshoved Gas Station (1937) Jacobsen Gas Station
This is an official poster from the LOUISIANA MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, titled "LOUISIANA POSTERS." The artwork is "Arne Jacobsen – Skovshoved Gas Station (1937)." The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art produces and sells posters for various past and present exhibitions, boasting an impressive collection featuring numerous artists who have shaped history. This poster was created for an exhibition held at Louisiana in 2002 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of world-renowned architect Arne Jacobsen. It is an exhibition poster featuring a depiction of the Skovshoved Gas Station (1937). The gas station, designed by Arne Jacobsen and located at Quistvej 24, was built in 1937 in conjunction with the construction of a new coastal road. This gas station was built in Jacobsen's famous functionalist style and is now a protected building. It is particularly known for its striking circular roof, which partially provides shade and partially reflects light from the central pillar and the building's lamps, operating on the same principle as today's "uplights." The shape of this roof clearly expresses the outline of one of Arne Jacobsen's chairs, the "The Ant chair," a design classic. Jacobsen designed this chair much later, in 1952. For those who want to display it in their room as soon as it arrives, a simple, high-quality aluminum frame can also be purchased as a set. To minimize distortion and warping of the surface clear panel, which is the biggest drawback of affordable poster frames, we use a 1.5mm thick acrylic panel to ensure flatness and high transparency.
